Wagers placed on the Player pay 2:1 of the original wager amount if the player wins. Wagers placed on the Banker pay 2:1 of the original wager amount minus a 5% house commission if the banker wins. Wagers placed on a Tie pay 9:1 of the original wager amount if a tie occurs; that is to say when both the player's and banker's hands are of equal value. Wagers placed on either the Banker or the Player are returned if a tie occurs.
The first roll of the dice at a Crap table is called the Come Out Roll. During this roll, players usually bet on either the Pass Line or Don't Pass (although a bet on these positions is not required). If a 7 or 11 is rolled, the game ends immediately and bets on the Pass Line win even money (1:1). If a roll of 2, 3 or 12 is made, then the Pass Line bet loses immediately. The Don't Pass bet is opposite from the Pass Line and pays 1:1 on 2, 3 and 12 and loses on 7 or 11. If any other number is rolled (ie: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10), we say a point is established and the game continues.
Once a point is established, a white marker indicates what the point is on the table. All Don't Pass and Pass Line bets are now locked and cannot be removed or added to. At this point you are entitled to place Odds bet on any Pass Line or Don't Come bets on the table. There is a limit on the amount you can wager on Odds bets in Craps. The Odds structure in place is called "3-4-5 times odds". This means that you able to play 3x odds when the point is 4 or 10, 4x when the point is 5 or 9 and 5x when the point is 6 or 8.
A Field Bet can be placed at any time. When placing a Field Bet, you are betting on the fact that 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11 will be rolled on the next roll of the dice. If you place a Field Bet and a 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11 is rolled, then you will be paid even money (1:1). If a 2 is rolled, you will be paid 2:1 and if a 12 is rolled, you will be paid 3:1. Any other value rolled is a loss.
Big 6 is an area that pays when a 6 is rolled before a 7. If you place a bet on Big 6, and a 6 is rolled before a 7 is rolled, then you win and your bet is paid 7:6. If a 7 is rolled before rolling a 6, your bet loses. Big 8 is exactly the same as Big 6 except that the player is hoping that 8 will be rolled before 7, instead of 6.
There are four types of Hardway Bets. A "Hardway" is when you roll either a 4, 6, 8 or 10 and the dice show exactly the same value. For example, Hardway 8 is achieved by rolling exactly two 4's. You may place a bet on any of the four Hardway areas. Your bet will win if that hardway is rolled before a 7 or before any other combination of dice that equal the same value but is not the "hard way". Hardway 4 pays 7:1, Hardway 6 pays 9:1, Hardway 8 pays 9:1 and Hardway 10 pays 7:1.
Come and Don't Come are bet areas that are very similar to Pass Line and Don't Pass except for that they can only be bet on after a point is established. That is, once a point is established, you may bet on Come and the bet will be paid even money if the next roll is 7 or 11, and it will lose if 2, 3 or 12 is rolled. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled when a Come or Don't Come bet is placed, then the point is called a Come Point and the chips will move to the area representing that point.
Come and Don't Come Odds work exactly the same as Odds bets placed on Pass Line and Don't Pass. They are placed once a Come Point has been established and pay the same as Pass Line Odds and Don't Pass Odds.
A Place Bet to Win is a bet on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 and you are betting on the chance that this number will be rolled before a 7. You can make a Place Bet at any time and winning bets are paid as follows: A winning Place Bet on 4 or 10 is paid 9:5, a winning Place Bet on 5 or 9 is paid 7:5 and a winning Place Bet on 6 or 8 is paid 7:6. A Place Bet to Lose is exactly the opposite to Place Bet to Win. You are betting that the dice will roll a 7 before the value you're betting to lose. Place Bet to Lose is paid as follows: 4 or 10 pays 5:11, 5 or 9 pays 5:8 and 6 or 8 pays 4:5.
Buy Bets are similar to the Place Bets but they pay true odds minus a 5% commission. This means that rolling the number of your buy bet before a 7 pays as follows: 4 or 10 pays 2:1, 5 or 9 pays 3:2 and 6 or 8 pays 6:5, all minus a 5% commission on your original bet. Lay Bets are they exact opposite of a Buy Bet in that you are betting that a 7 is rolled before the number of your Lay Bet. Once again, your bets are paid true odds when they win, minus a 5% commission. That is, 4 or 10 pays 1:2, 5 or 9 pays 2:3 and 6 or 8 pays 5:6, all minus 5% commission on your original bet.
